IRVINE, Calif.—The University of Hawai'i softball team had eight players--the most since 2013--earn All-Big West Conference honors as announced on Tuesday morning. Junior first baseman/catcher Callee Heen, senior pitcher Brittany Hitchcock, and senior third baseman Nicole Lopez all earned first team honors while senior catcher Heather Cameron was named to all-Big West second team. Both junior utility player Cheeks Ramos and sophomore centerfielder Brittnee Rossi garnered honorable mention honors and rookies Izzy Dino and Mikaela Gandia-Mak both were named to the All-Freshman Team.
 
It is the third year that Heen has earned all-conference honors. This season as a junior, she finished first in the league with 15 home runs and 31 walks—both career-highs. She also hit a career-high and team-highs of a .374 batting average, .789 slugging percentage and .509 on-base percentage. Heen also led UH with 14 multiple-RBI games. She hit safely in 31 games and was walked or hit-by-pitch another 11 time to reach base safely in 42 of the 48 games that she played this season. She also was second on the team with 14 multiple-hit games.  Heen started 30 games at first base and 18 at catcher this season. As a freshman, she earned honorable mention recognition and all-freshman team honors. Last year she was named to the all-Big West first team. She was named Big West Player of the Week once this season (April 5).
 
It marked Hitchcock's fourth all-Big West honor—her second time on the First Team. Hitchcock recorded a career-best 20-8 record while posting a career-low 1.76 ERA in 175.1 innings pitched. She is UH's first 20 game winner since Kaia Parnaby recorded 39 in 2013. She finished second in the Big West in ERA and wins. This season, she amassed 22 complete games in 27 starts with six complete game shutouts and one save. She led the league in strikeout-to-walk ratio (4.35) as she tallied just 26 walks to 113 strikeouts for the year. Hitchcock finished her career ranked in the Top 5 in several UH career record book categories including: games started (No. 2 – 124); complete games (T-No. 3 – 89); appearances (No. 3 – 139); wins (No. 4 – 75); strikeouts (No. 4 – 512). Hitchcock was tabbed Big West Pitcher of the Week in two of the last three weeks of the season (April 29 & May 6).
 
Lopez, also a four-time selection to the all-Big West teams, earned her third spot on the first team this year. She led the Big West with a career-high 45 runs scored. She finished hitting a career-high .353 batting average with a career-high 59 hits. She recorded a career-high 12 doubles and tied her career-high with 12 home runs this season. Lopez also led UH going 6-for-6 in stolen bases.  She hit safely in 39 of UH's 49 games. Lopez also led the 'Bows with 14 multiple-hit games and had the team's longest hitting streak this year at 13. She reached base safely in the last nine-straight games of the season.  Lopez was tabbed twice as Big West Player of the Week this season (Feb. 25 & April 29).
 
Cameron earned her first post-season, all-conference honor, earning a spot on the all-Big West second team. She appeared in 33 games with 31 starts all at catcher. Overall, Cameron hit .241 and was second on the team with eight doubles while driving in 10 runs and scoring nine. In conference games, she finished strong, hitting .282 (11-for-39).
 
Ramos was a true utility player for the 'Bows this season. She started all 49 games—34 games at second base, 10 games at shortstop, and five games as the designated player. She finished fourth on the team with a .273 average (36-for-132). This season, she posted career-high numbers with 23 runs, seven doubles, 24 RBI, 14 walks and a .384 on-base percentage. It was the first time Ramos earned post-season all-conference honors since she earned second team amd all-freshman team honors as a rookie. She also earned Freshman of the Year honors in 2017.
 
For Rossi, this was her first all-Big West honor received. She started all 49 games in centerfield and was the Rainbow Wahine's leadoff batter in 39 of UH's 49 games. Overall she hit .250, but in conference she elevated her game and hit .293 (17-for-158) to finish second on the squad. Overall, Rossi was second on the team scoring 38 runs and walking 27 times. She finished third on the team with six home runs with a .432 slugging percentage. Twelve of Rossi's 33 hits went for extra bases this year. She was also tied with Lopez for a team-high six stolen bases.
 
Overall, Dino recorded a 9-6 record in the pitching circle with a 2.93 ERA. She tossed her first career-no-hitter against St. Mary's (CA) in the first tournament of the season.  She made 22 appearances while starting 19 games. Dino fired eight complete games and had three shutouts in her rookie season with the Rainbow Wahine. Overall she had 22 walks to 39 strikeouts.
 
Gandia-Mak finished her rookie campaign ranked third on the team with a .279 overall batting average (24-for-86) in 40 appearances. She made 32 starts in rightfield as a freshman with 11 runs scored with four doubles and 10 RBI.
 
The eight total players tied for the most players to earn Big West honors in one season. Hawai'i had eight players earn post-season BWC honors twice before in 1994 and in 2013. But in 1994, UH's Brooke Wilkins was named Big West Pitcher of the Year and head coach Bob Coolen was named BWC Coach of the Year, and in 2013 Kaia Parnaby was named Big West Pitcher of the Year, Kelly Majam was named BWC Defensive Player of the Year and Coolen earned Coach of the Year.  When UH was still a member of the Western Athletic Conference, the 'Bows had a program-record 10 players earn all-WAC honors in 2007 with Kate Robinson also earning Pitcher of the Year; Tyleen Tausaga named Player of the Year, Katie Grimes being named Freshman of the Year and Coolen earning Coach of the Year. UH also had eight all-WAC honors in their final season in the league, 2012.
