Steve Scott Invitational Day One Action Complete

IRVINE, Calif. - Day one of the Steve Scott Invitational included a number of highlights, particularly in the field events for the University of Hawaiʻi women's track and field team.

Alexis Brenzil won the javelin with a career-best distance of 49.42m (162'1") on her fourth attempt of the day. The mark is less than a meter off the school record of 49.96m (163'11") set by Annett Wichmann in 2009.

Jada Pierce set a personal record in the hammer thanks to a mark of 48.62m (159'6") to lead her flight. Also in the hammer, Meg Jackson finished with a distance of 45.48m (149'2").

In the long jump, Britney Price put together one of the top performances of her career, reaching 5.41m (17'9").

A trio of UH pole vaulters cleared 3.50m (11'5.75") on the day: Krista Rados, Nina Bean and Megan Fereira. In the javelin, Madelin Muilenburg finished with a distance of 38.63m (126'9") with Kathryn Philpott reaching 35.46m (116'4").

Finishing the day with the 5,000m, Jessica Cushing-murray clocked in at 17:41.90 - the eighth best time in program history. Giovanna Casazza dropped nearly a minute off her 5,000m time from two weeks ago to finish in 19:31.58 on Friday.

Action at the Steve Scott Invitational concludes on Saturday, April 27 in Irvine, Calif.
