No. 1 Men’s Volleyball Concludes Trip With Single Match At CUI, UCSD Series

The nation's new No. 1 ranked University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team concludes its two-week road trip with three matches in southern California this week beginning with a single, non-conference match-up against Concordia-Irvine, Tuesday, March 26 in Irvine, Calif., followed by a two-match Big West Conference series with UC San Diego, Friday, March 29 and Saturday, March 30 in La Jolla, Calif. All three matches begin at 4:00 p.m. HT.

Game Notes:
  • UH (20-0, 4-0 BWC), which took over the No. 1 spot in this week's AVCA poll for the first time since 2015, takes its program-best 20-match win streak into a non-conference match-up with Concordia-Irvine of the MPSF.
  • The teams met on Day 2 of the season-opening HAL Rainbow Warrior Classic with UH winning 25-13, 25-12, 25-20.
  • UH is coming off a trio of straight-set wins over McKendree, Princeton, and BYU to capture the BYU Invitational last week and extend its set win streak to 60.
  • CUI (12-15) went 2-1 on the road last week beginning with a loss at Grand Canyon followed by wins over Ottawa Arizona and Benedict Mesa. The Eagles are 10-3 at home this season.
  • UH is 3-0 all-time vs. CUI, all three matches taking place at the Stan Sheriff Center.
  • Following the CUI match, UH returns to Big West Conference play for a two-match series at UC San Diego (7-13, 0-4).
  • UH's 54 all-time wins over UCSD is tied for the most against a single opponent in program history (54 vs. CSUN).
  • UH has won the last 11 meetings between the teams, including six straight in La Jolla, Calif., where Hawai'i owns a 21-3 advantage.
