UH Baseball Heads to Ohio State

After 20-consecutive home games to open the 2019 season, the University of Hawaiʻi baseball team will travel to Columbus, Ohio to take on Ohio State for a four-game series scheduled for March 21-24. Taking on their second Big Ten opponent of the season, the Rainbow Warriors enter their first road series with a 9-11 overall record.

Game Notes 
  • The Rainbow Warriors recently completed a 20-game homestand to open the 2019 season. UH came out of the stretch with a 9-11 record going 1-3 versus Portland, 2-2 versus Iowa, 4-0 versus Longwood, 1-3 versus Oregon and 1-3 versus CSU Bakersfield.
  • UH went 9-11 on the road last season. 
  • Freshman outfielder Scotty Scott, who has started all 20 games this season, leads the team with a .325 batting average. In the Rainbow Warriors' four-game set versus CSU Bakersfield, Scott went 5-for-15 (.333).
  • Ohio State, which is 9-10 on the season, plays Tuesday versus Northern Kentucky. The Buckeyes went 36-24 a year ago and qualified for the NCAA Tournament, competing in the Greenville Regional.
  • The UH history book lists a 1956 matchup between Hawai'i and Ohio State when UH fielded a club team. The game is listed as a 4-3 loss for the Rainbow Warriors.
  • After the series at Ohio State, the 'Bows return to Hawai'i to take on UC Irvine for the start of Big West play.
