- UH (10-0, 0-0 BWC), which was idle last week, is off to its best start under head coach Charlie Wade and best overall since the 1996 squad (13-0).
- UH's 10 consecutive straight-set wins is tied for the program record also set in 2017. Hawai'i is two sets shy of the record for consecutive sets won, 32, also set in 2017.
- UH is opening Big West play against UC Irvine for the second consecutive year. The teams split the series in Honolulu with each team winning in four sets. Hawai'i's victory in the opener marked UH's first-ever BWC win. The Warriors also defeated UCI in four sets in the Big West Tournament semifinals.
- UC Irvine (13-2, 2-0 BWC) enters this week's series having won seven straight since losing two of three during a one-week span last month.
