Rainbow Wahine Sign Five to 2020 Recruiting Class

Honolulu-- The University of Hawai'i soccer program announced its 2020 signing class on Thursday with five new additions to the roster next season.
 
"We are so excited to formally welcome our 2020 recruits to our Rainbow Wahine Soccer' Ohana," said head coach Michele Nagamine. "This class represents a new level of athleticism and competitive spirit for us. They are all coming to us from top-rated soccer clubs, and we are excited about their ability to impact our program immediately."
 
Amber Gilbert- A native of Honolulu, O'ahu, Gilbert will graduate from Mililani high school in the spring of 2020. Gilbert is an explosive presence at the forward position and will provide more scoring depth up front for the 'Bows. In 2018, she was an OIA Champion, while also being named the Most Outstanding Girl's Soccer Offensive Player and X-Factor Player for Girl's Soccer OIA Championship. Gilbert was also a duel athlete competing in track and field, winning the 2017-18 state title in the 4 x 400 relay.

Maya Gonzalez- A native of Moreno Valley, California, Gonzalez will add more depth to an experienced defensive group as an outside back. A future graduate of Aquinas High School in San Bernardino, California, Gonzalez comes to UH as tri-athlete competing in basketball and softball, as well as soccer. Her ties to the university stem from her uncle, Tim Lyons, a former quarterback at UH.
   
"One of the most athletic players we have ever recruited. She is a three-sport athlete who garnered all-conference honors in each sport. She is a solid defender and will look to compete for time in our backline. – Michele Nagamine
 
Fabiola Zamora- A defender from Cupertino, California, Zamora will be competing with one of the more talented and experienced backlines in the Big West. She collected awards in the CIF Central Coast Section, including Second Team honors as a freshman and sophomore, and First Team honors as a junior.
   
"I love the way Fabi sees the game. She is technical, creative, and always thinking. She will be a great compliment to our returnees in the midfield.- HC Michele Nagamine"
 
Kyanah Blas- A four-year varsity letterman at Konawaena High School in Kealakekua, Hawai'i, Blas, made her name well renowned on the Big Island. Including being appointed with various weekly, monthly, and yearly honors throughout her four-year high school career, Blas was the premier stopper for the Big Island Interscholastic Federation conference championship squad at Konawaena and finished in third place in the state championships. Entering the 2020 season, Blas will be one of two goalkeepers on the roster.

Chelsey Stock- A midfielder from Thornton, Colorado, Stock comes to the UH program has an accomplished athlete from Broomfield High School. Competing in the 5A Front Range League, Stock was a part of the 2019 League Championship squad and was named to the All-Conference Second Team. As a student, she was named to the Academic All-State team in 2019, was appointed to the Honor Roll numerous times from 2016-2019, and was awarded the Outstanding Achievement in Anatomy and Physiology in 2018-19.
