The University of Hawai'i women's golf team will head to the Pacific Northwest to compete in the Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational, Monday, Oct. 14 and Tuesday, Oct. 15 at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club.
 
Seattle University hosts the 18-team event, which also includes Boise State, Cal State Fullerton, CSUN, Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, Grand Canyon, High Point, Houston Baptist, Montana, Nevada, North Dakota, North Dakota State, Santa Clara, Utah Valley, Weber State, and Wyoming.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will send five golfers to the event, Megan Ratcliffe, Tyra Tonkham, Sahara Washington, Haruka Shintani, and Kralyn Salazar.
 
"We're looking forward to head back to the PNW and compete at the beautiful Tacoma Country Club," head coach Stephen Bidne said. "The projected cold temperatures and possible rain, combined with the narrow tree lined golf course will make it a true test of golf."
 
Participants will play 54 holes, 36 on Monday and 18 on Tuesday at the 6,020-yard, par-72 course. Built in 1894, the Tacoma Country and Golf Club is the oldest continuously operating golf club in the West.
 
UH is coming off a fourth place finish at the Wyoming Cowgirl Intercollegiate, where Ratcliffe was the team's top finisher in a tie for 13th place. The senior from Qualicum Beach, British Columbia leads the Rainbow Wahine with a 77.3 scoring average followed by Washington (77.5). Shintani was the team's top finisher at the season-opening Hobble Creek Fall Classic.
 
"As of late we have had some players step up and post some under par qualifying scores back home, so I'm eager to take that momentum with us to Seattle," Bidne said. "If we play our game to our abilities and stay away from double bogeys or worse, we will have an opportunity to do very well."
