HONOLULU - The University of Hawaiʻi water polo team will embark on its first road trip of the season with four matches in California next on the schedule.

In three games at the Spieker Aquatics Center at UCLA in Los Angeles, the fifth-ranked Rainbow Wahine (4-0) will take on No. 3 UCLA on Friday, Feb. 1, before battling No. 15 Loyola Marymount and No. 14 Fresno State on Saturday, Feb. 2. The trip will conclude with another test at No. 21 UC San Diego on Sunday, Feb. 3.

UH, which is off to its best start since the 2010 season, opened the year with four-consecutive wins at home at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

Last time out, the Rainbow Wahine defeated fifth-ranked Arizona State on Saturday by a 10-7 margin. Senior All-American Irene Gonzalez led the offense with four goals and two assists, while senior Femke Aan added two goals. With the scored leveled at 7-7 in the fourth, the 'Bows closed the game on a 3-0 run in the final 5:31 to pull away.

Gonzalez, who is now third on UH's career goals list with 181, has tallied a team-best 15 goals on the season. As a team, Hawaiʻi is outscoring its opponents 60-21 through four games.

Hawaiʻi was ranked seventh in the Jan. 23 CWPA national poll and moved up to fifth in the Jan. 30 poll. The highest ranked team UH will face this week is third-ranked UCLA. A win over the Bruins would be the first for the 'Bows over a top three team since a 7-6 victory over third-ranked Cal on Feb. 27, 2016.

In last year's meetings, UH fell to UCLA by a 9-8 score and secured wins over Loyola Marymount (13-6) and UC San Diego (7-4). Saturday will mark the first ever matchup between Hawaiʻi and Fresno State.

After the weekend action, the Rainbow Wahine will have a break before taking on Azusa Pacific in California on Feb. 20.
