Aydin Tabbed As MPSF Athlete of the Week

HONOLULU—For the first time, this season senior Metin Aydin from the University of Hawai'i men's swim team has been named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Male of the Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference offices on Wednesday.

Aydin led UH against Minnesota on Saturday, claiming individual victories in the 100 backstroke and the 200 individual medley. He also helped the men's team come up with a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay by swimming the backstroke leg of the relay.

Combined, UH has had four weekly award honors from the MFSF, but Aydin is the first to be awarded on the men's side. Throughout his career, Aydin has been named the male athlete of the week five times.

UH will look towards February for its next competition, as Aydin and the rest of the squad will be preparing for the MPSF Championships beginning on Feb. 20.
