HONOLULU— The University of Hawai'i baseball team recently had three pitchers named to all-star squads for their respective summer leagues over the last week. Sophomore Dylan Thomas of the Cape Cod League, and the freshman duo of Cade Smith with the California Collegiate League and Jeremy Yelland of the West Coast league.
 
Yelland has been a standout star with the WCL appearing in eight games, accounting for 16.2 innings pitched, allowing just four earned runs for a 1.62 ERA for the Wenatchee AppleSox. His performance earned him a spot on North All-Stars on July 17th where he threw one inning, allowed one walk, no hits, and struck out two. As a result of his summer season and an all-star appearance, Yelland has cemented himself at the top of the WCL top pro prospect list.
 
Over in the CCL, Smith has produced similar results on the hill. Appearing in six games for a team-leading 23 innings of action, registering a 3.42 ERA and 22 strikeouts for the SoCal Catch. On July 18th, Smith threw one inning, giving up one run on one hit for the Americans squad. He ranks as the No. 8 CCL pitching prospect and is one of just three players in the top-10 who doesn't compete in a power five conference.
 
Thomas has yet to make his all-star appearance as a member of the Hyannis Harber Hawks, but his numbers provide why he has garnished so much attention over the last year. For the Hawks, he has appeared in a team-high 13 games for 18.1 innings of action while notching a total of eight saves. He currently holds a near perfect ERA at 0.98 and has registered 27 strikeouts with just one walk. The CCBL All-Star game will take place on Sunday on June 22nd.
