IRVINE, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i track and field team opened competition in its final regular season meet of the year, opening action on Friday at the Steve Scott Invitational at UC Irvine's Anteater Stadium.
Junior
Karen Bulger produced the highest finish for the Rainbow Wahine, coming in second in the javelin with a 143-6 (43.75m), while junior
Meg Jackson was fifth at 127-11 (39.00m).
Also turning in top-tier performances in the throws, sophomore
Haleigh Sudbeck finished third in the hammer throw with a 179-9 (54.80m).
Kahili Novikoff (156-10/47.81m) and
Malissa Humanic (148-10/45.36m) both logged personal bests.
Meanwhile, both freshmen
Kristen LaCosse (18-7/5.66m) and
Britney Price (17-10.25/5.44m) both notched new personal bests in the long jump.
In the pole vault, junior
Nina Bean was ninth at 11-5.75 (3.50m).
In one of UH's two running events of the day, freshman
Sienna Santiago produced a big PR in the 5,000m run, coming in 12th with a time of 18:22.95. In the 3,000m steeplechase, sophomore
Alison Bowman finished 10th in 12:28.92.
The Rainbow Wahine will conclude the regular season on Saturday with the second day of competition at Anteater Stadium, closing out the Steve Scott Invitational.
