STOCKTON, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i baseball team (16-9) will take a rare one-off non-conference game on Monday at Klein Family Field, as the Rainbow Warriors take on Pacific (10-16) at 3:00 p.m. HT in the teams' first meeting since 2013.
 
The Rainbow Warriors are coming off a huge Big-West-opening series win at UC Irvine and the biggest road victory since 2005, hammering the Anteaters to a 14-2 series-clinching rubber match. Overall, Hawai'i batted .345 against the talented pitching staff at UC Irvine, putting up 39 hits on the three-game set.
 
Leading the way, sophomore right fielder Adam Fogel hit .429 with six hits and four RBI against the Anteaters, while both center fielder Dylan Vchulek and shortstop Maaki Yamazaki each logged five base knocks. On the season, Fogel leads the squad with a .351 average, topping UH with 17 RBI, 14 runs, 12 doubles, a .596 slugging percentage and three home runs. Yamazaki bats .296 and has 14 runs and 10 RBI so far, defensively putting a glove in on 18 UH double plays this year.
 
On the mound for the Rainbow Warriors, left-hander Dominic DeMiero will take Monday's contest, coming in with a 4.64 ERA and 1-2 record in six starts, accounting for 21 strikeouts in 33 innings for the 'Bows.
 
The Tigers are coming off a weekend West Coast Conference series victory over league-second place Loyola Marymount (2-1) after picking up 3-2 and 7-5 wins to bounce back from a 13-4 loss in the opener. Hitting .235 as a team and holding a 5.19 team ERA, Pacific is led at the plate by catcher James Free II with a .289 average, 14 RBI and 13 runs, knocking out four home runs. Bradley Jekich is also batting .271 with 13 runs scored.
 
Pacific will start freshman right-hander Hayden Pearce on Monday. He holds a 4.05 ERA with one start in seven appearances, striking out 12 in 13.1 innings. Overall this season, the Tigers' staff allows an average of 9.6 hits and 6.0 runs per game.
 
With UH holding a 17-4 edge in the series, these teams last met in a three-game series in Honolulu, with the Warriors coming out with a 2-1 win, their current streak in the series. Hawai'i is 2-2 in trips to Stockton, dropping the last road outing in 2007, 4-3.
 
After the mid-week contest, the Rainbow Warriors will migrate even further into northern California, setting up for another Big West series, this weekend at UC Davis, Friday-Sunday (April 6-8) at the Aggies' Dobbins Baseball Complex.
