No. 7 Men’s Volleyball Looks To End Skid With UC San Diego Series

HONOLULU – The seventh-ranked University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team will look to snap a four-match losing streak when it hosts UC San Diego in a two-match Big West Conference series, Friday, March 30 and Saturday, March 31 at the Stan Sheriff Center. First serve for both matches is 7:00 p.m.

Playing on their homecourt for the first time in three weeks, the Rainbow Warriors (13-6, 1-3 BWC) were idle last week after dropping a three-match road trip at CSUN and Pepperdine. UH's four-match losing streak is its longest since 2016 and dropped them to No. 7 in the national rankings.

The Tritons (9-12, 0-4) have lost their last three matches and 10 of 12 since starting the season with a 7-2 mark. UCSD, which was also idle last week, dropped a pair to UC Irvine, falling in straight sets in Irvine and in five at home.

UCSD opposite Taner Syftestad is the nation's leader in kills at 4.76 per set while UH's Stijn van Tilburg is third at 4.35. Syftestad, who also averages 1.66 digs and 0.85 blocks per set, has 26 aces and tops the nation in points (5.58 avg.).

UH leads the all-time series 52-4 and have won the last nine matches. Hawai'i's last loss in the series was Jan. 6, 2012 at the SSC.
