Men’s Volleyball Announces 2019 Schedule

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team will host 16 matches during the 2019 season in addition to the Big West Conference Tournament, which will be held April 18-20 at the Stan Sheriff Center.
 
The Rainbow Warriors are scheduled to play 27 regular season matches, 13 of which against teams ranked in the final AVCA Top 15 poll, including reining national champion Long Beach State (April 12-13 in Long Beach, Calif.)
 
UH will host to two in-season tournaments – the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Warrior Classic (Jan. 10-12), featuring USC, Concordia-Irvine, and New Jersey Institute of Technology and the 25thannual Outrigger Resorts & Hotels Invitational (March 7-9), which includes Pepperdine, Ball State, and King.
 
For the second year in a row, the Warriors will also participate in a regular season tournament on the mainland. Hawai'i is among four teams in the BYU Invitational (March 21-23) in Provo, Utah that also features Princeton and McKendree. 
 
UH will make one other non-conference road trip for first-ever matches against Queens (Feb. 7 & 9) and Saint Francis (Feb. 8) in Charlotte, N.C.
 
Hawai'i will open the season with a pair of exhibition matches against British Columbia (Jan. 4-5) at the Stan Sheriff Center. UH will also host two non-conference series against Stanford (Feb. 1 & 3) and Lincoln Memorial (Feb. 15 & 17) while hosting Big West foes CSUN (March 15-16) and UC Santa Barbara (April 5-6).
 
Other Big West matches include road matches at UC Irvine (March 1-2), UC San Diego (March 29-30), and LBSU. UH will also play a non-conference match at Concordia-Irvine (March 26) ahead of the UCSD series.
 
UH will host the Big West Tournament for the first time. Last year's inaugural championship was held in Long Beach, Calif., and the Warriors finished runner-up. The NCAA Championship is scheduled for May 2 & 4 in Long Beach with the opening round dates to be announced at a later time.
