HONOLULU - The No. 8 University of Hawai'i (10-9, 1-1 BWC) water polo team get back to Big West Conference (BWC) play this week with a match against No. 13 UC Santa Barbara (14-7, 0-1 BWC) on Thursday, March 30, followed by two non-conference match ups against No. 3 UCLA (14-1, 3-0 MPSF) on Friday, March 31, and No. 12 San Diego State (13-9, 4-0 GCC) on Saturday, April 1, at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex (DKAC).
After a 12-day hiatus, the Rainbow Wahine return to action against UCSB on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. HT. Hawai'i holds a dominating 23-8 all-time record over the Gauchos, but fell to them in the last two meetings, including an 11-5 defeat in the 2016 Big West Championships. The Gauchos have won four of their last five matches, but fell to Long Beach State in their first BWC match of this season.
The Rainbow Wahine are back in the pool the next day for a match against UCLA on Friday at 6:00 p.m. HT. The Bruins have historically been a difficult opponent for the 'Bows, leading Hawai'i 49-3 in the all-time series record. The Rainbow Wahine last defeated UCLA, 8-6, in overtime during the 2011 season.
Hawai'i caps off the weekend with a match against San Diego State on Saturday at 1:15 p.m. HT. The 'Bows hold a 22-10 all-time record over the Aztecs, but haven't faced them since the 2015 season. In the last match up between the two, current redshirt juniors
