Women's Basketball Hosts Streaking CSUN On Saturday

Game Notes (PDF)

HONOLULU – Two streaking teams will clash in the Stan Sheriff Center on Saturday night when the Hawai'i women's basketball team hosts CSUN at 7 p.m.

The Rainbow Wahine have dropped five straight games and enter Saturday's showdown at 8-16 overall and 4-8 in the Big West. CSUN, meanwhile, is riding a six-game winning streak, which has the Matadors at 14-11 overall and 7-4 in the Big West.

Hawai'i hasn't reached the 60-point mark offensively during its five-game skid, averaging just 52.4 points per game during that stretch. Junior Sarah Toeaina has scored in double-figures in nine consecutive games, and leads Hawai'i with 13.8 points per game this season.

The Rainbow Wahine are 8-5 all-time against CSUN and 5-0 against the Matadors in the Stan Sheriff Center. CSUN has won two straight in the series, including a 67-56 win in Northridge on Feb. 4.

CSUN is battling for a top-four seed in the upcoming Big West tournament, which would give the Matadors a bye into the quarterfinals. CSUN is currently in fourth place in the conference standings, a half-game ahead of UC Santa Barbara, and completed a season sweep of the Gauchos last week. Matador head coach Jason Flowers will be looking for his 100th career win on Saturday, entering the game with a 99-116 career record.

Channon Fluker leads CSUN with 16.4 points and 12.1 rebounds per game, while 3-point threat Serafina Maulupe adds 13.9 points and a team-best 16.8 points per game in Big West play. Maulupe is shooting 37.9 percent from 3-point range with 3.0 made 3s per game in conference play.
