Men's Basketball Looks To Rebound At Cal Poly

GAME NOTES

SAN LUIS OBISPO -- The University of Hawaii men's basketball looks to shake off a tough road loss when it takes on  Cal Poly on Saturday, Feb. 18. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. PT/5:00 p.m. HT at the Mott Athletic Center.

The Rainbow Warriors (12-13, 6-6 BWC) and Mustangs (8-17, 3-8 BWC) will meet for the second time in 10 days. UH won the first meeting in Honolulu, 74-65, on Feb. 9 to extend its win streak over the Mustangs to four games.

UH is coming off a last-second 56-54 loss at UCSB on Thursday, the team's second straight setback. It was a pivotal loss for the Rainbow Warriors who missed an opportunity to move into third in the standings and instead dropped to sixth place in the Big West.

Gibson Johnson recorded his first career double with 16 points and 10 rebounds against the Gauchos. The junior forward is averaging 16.7 ppg while shooting 60 percent from the field in the last three contests.

UH also got a boost in the lineup at UCSB with the return of Leland Green, who missed the previous three games due to illness. The freshman guard had seven points in the loss, including a clutch three-pointer late in the game to tie things up.
