Smart Kittirattanapaiboon shot a final round 69 to lead the University of Hawai'i men's golf team at the Maui Jim Intercollegiate Sunday at Mirabel Golf Club.
Kittirattanapaiboon, a junior from Thailand, posted five birdies during his round, including three on his back nine, to finish 2-under for the day, 7-over 220 for the tournament for a tie for 56
th place.
The Rainbow Warriors shot 310 to finish the tournament at 909 and 16
th place in the inaugural event. LSU (811) captured the team title by five strokes over Baylor (816). Kent State placed third (828) followed by Kansas (837), South Carolina (839), Georgia Tech (844), Houston (853), California (858), Augusta (859), South Florida (861), UAB (84), Georgia State (872), Chattanooga (876), Notre Dame (877), Grand Canyon (881), and UH (909).
LSU's Luis Gagne held off South Carolina's Scott Stevens by two strokes for medalist honors. Gagne concluded the tourney at 17-under 196 after a final round 66.
UH freshman
Desmond Mello shot 79 on Sunday for a 228 total and 82
nd place. One stroke back was sophomore
Sam Schwartz, who tied for 85
th at 229. Senior
Pono Tokioka posted a 232 for a tie for 90
th while sophomore
Bryden Salvador finished 92
nd at 251.
The Warriors will next host the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational, Oct. 30-Nov. 1 on Kaua'i and the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational, Nov. 4-6 on Maui.
