Bryan Clay Invitational ResultsLOS ANGELES – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine track and field team closed out the first and second of four meets across a five-day stretch on Thursday in the Los Angeles metro, competing at the California Heptathlon and Pacific Coast Invitational, also beginning a third competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
As the lone competitor at the California Invitational multi-events meet, 'Ewa Beach, O'ahu sophomore
Sha'tres Ah Nee improved her score in the heptathlon by 277 points with personal bests in the 100m hurdles (9.23 seconds), long jump (5.14m) and 800m (2:34.54), tallying a combined score of 4,267 points, just shy of reaching the UH all-time top 10 list.
Beginning competition on Thursday in the Pacific Coast Invitational in Long Beach, the Rainbow Wahine were paced by Veracruz, Mexico senior Tiziana Ruiz-Dominguez, who broke her own school record in the pole vault by 2cm, earning third with a 13-6.25 (4.12m) vault, further solidifying her lead in the Big West standings. Junior
Amber Kozaki was also sixth in the event at 12-6.25 (3.82m).
Also highlighting the UH performances at the PCI meet, Wai'anae, O'ahu junior
Felicianna Vazquez won the javelin with a personal-best mark of  163-2 (49.74m), adding 5m to her previous best and moving to second on the all-time UH javelin list. Freshman
Karen Bulger also finished seventh in the event at 141-9 (43.22m).
Perth, Australia senior
Louise Mulvey also claimed a victory for the Rainbow Wahine, diving for the win at the line in the 800m with a personal-best time of 2:10.58, beating out Saint Louis' Emma Kid by .14 seconds.
In the shot put, St.-Cesaire, Canada senior
Alex Porlier Langlois and Kapolei, Oahu senior
Charlinda Ioane went back-to-back in first and second, respectively. Porlier Langlois threw 50-6.25 (15.40m), topping Ioane, who had a huge personal best toss at 49-9.75 (15.18m). Porlier also earned fourth in the discus at 164-11 (50.28m), while Ioane was eighth at 157-10 (48.11m).
Chino Hills, Calif. senior
Robyn Brown also finished third in the 400m hurdles final with a time of 1:02.96, while
Jade Vaughan was fifth at 1:03.46.
Four other Rainbow Wahine competed in the distance carnival at the first day of the Bryan Clay Invitational, also in Azusa. Junior
Montana Martinez ran a time of 17:52.72 to lead UH in a 138-woman field in the 5,000m. Also at BCI, Lockport, Ill. freshman
Haley Beaumont ran only her second-ever 3,000m steeplechase in a time of 11:37.78 to qualify for Big West and rank seventh on the UH all-time list.
The Rainbow Wahine will continue competition on the second day at Bryan Clay, while beginning at the Mt. SAC Relays in Norwalk, Calif.
