Live ScoringKANE'OHE, O'ahu – The University of Hawai'i women's golf team sits in a tie for sixth place following the first two rounds of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, Tuesday, at the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course on Marines Corps Base Hawai'i.
UH fired rounds of 303 and 299 and are tied with Fresno State with a 602 total. Late in the first round, heavy rains soaked the golf course but did not interrupt play. The rains subsided in early Round 2 and the golfer were able to finish the round in clear skies.
No. 10 Oklahoma leads the 16-team field at 7-under 569, seven strokes over Pepperdine and No. 28 Texas A&M (576) while No. 27 Texas is one stroke back at 577 and in fourth place. Illinois is in fifth (593) following by UH and Fresno State (602), Gonzaga (605), UMKC (608), and Idaho (601), round out the Top 10.
OSU's Maddie McCrary is in the individual leader at 5-under 139 following rounds of 69 and 70. Pepperdine's Hira Naveed trails by one stroke (140) and teammate Marissa Chow, a Honolulu native, and Texas A&M's
Thanya Pattamakijsak are two strokes back at 141.
UH's
Izzy Leung is tied for 11
th at 1-over 145 with rounds of 72 and 73. Over the two rounds, the junior has nine birdies, the second highest total among the field. Junior
Raquel Ek rebounded from an opening round 78 with a 73 in Round 2 for a 7-over 151 total and tie for 31
st.
Freshman
Kaci Masuda is shot consecutive rounds of 76 for a 152 total and tie for 38
th while junior
Daezsa Tomas fired back-to-back rounds of 77 for a 154 total and tie for 47
th. Junior
Kelli-Anne Katsuda struggled with rounds of 86 and 80 and holds 85
th place at 166.
