CLAREMONT, Calif. – The No. 4 University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine water polo squad opened up this week's action with stout 20-3 victory over Division III power No. 4 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Thursday at Matt M. Axelrood Pool.
The Rainbow Wahine went right to work, jumping out to a 5-0 leading in the first, powered by goals from five different players. UH held CMS off the scoreboard until the closing seconds of the opening period, but countered with a 10-0 scoring barrage that extended into the fourth quarter.
While the Athenas notched a pair of goals in the final quarter, UH continued its steady stream of scoring, tacking on five more goals after CMS snapped the scoring run, wrapping up the 20-3 victory in their first match in 20 days.

Sarah Logan manned the goal for the Rainbow Wahine, holding the Athenas to the lowest opponent score in the 2016 campaign so far.

The Rainbow Wahine will play either the winner or loser between No. 3 California and No. 17 UC Santa Barbara at 4:00 p.m. PT (2:00 p.m. HT) or 5:15 p.m. PT (3:15 p.m. HT) the same day.
