Box Score (html)LAS VEGAS, Nev.—The University of Hawai'i softball team fell to Utah, 9-0 in five innings in their final game of the DeMarini Desert Classic on Sunday. The Utes broke open a scoreless game in the bottom of the fourth as they racked up all nine runs in the frame. Hawai'i falls to 6-6 overall while Utah improves to 8-3.

Brittany Hitchcock threw the first 3-2/3 innings in the loss which dropped her record to 3-4. She gave up eight runs (three earned) on seven hits with three strike outs and no walks. Aina Cabrales gave up one run on two hits as she got the final out in the fourth.
Utah began the fourth tied 0-0 in a scoreless battle, but the Utes then loaded the bases with no outs with three straight singles and went on to bring 14 batters to the plate en route to scoring nine runs in the frame.
Utah's pitcher Katie Donovan evened her record at 3-3, spacing two hits with a walk and seven strikeouts in the shutout in a complete game effort.
Hawai'i posted a 2-4 record in this year's DeMarini Classic.
The Rainbow Wahine now return home to host four straight tournaments, beginning with the Bank of Hawaii Invitational, Feb. 26-28. Portland State and Utah Valley will be coming to Honolulu for the tourney.
