HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warriors baseball team came out on the unfavorable end of Sunday's third series game against the New Mexico Lobos, who lit up the scoreboard to hand UH an 18-0 loss at Les Murakami Stadium.

The pitchers for both squads held their own in the opening stanza, putting zeroes on the board in the first inning, but the Lobos scored their first run on right fielder Reece Weber's RBI single to center field in the second inning and never looked back.

The Lobos put up runs in seven consecutive innings, racking up an 18-0 lead, the most opponent scoring in a UH home game since 1997. Working behind starter Josh Pigg, the Rainbow Warriors went to the bullpen early, cycling through Patrick Martin and Bryce Ah Sam, but found no answers to the Lobo offense until senior Cody Culp entered in the eighth, allowing two hits and no runs, pitching the final 1.1 innings.

New Mexico's pitching staff also cuffed the UH hitters, holding the Rainbow Warriors to four hits in the shutout.

Pigg (0-1) takes the loss for UH, throwing 3.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on eight hits with five walks and two strikeouts. For UNM, starter Colton Thompson (1-0) earned the win after 6.0 innings, while reliever Austin Isenhart closed the final three innings, earning the save.

The Rainbow Warriors and Lobos close out the four-game series on Monday evening, playing game four with a 5:35 p.m. first pitch at Les Murakami Stadium.
