Game Notes

HONOLULU – The Hawai'i women's basketball team is heading back to the mainland to take on a pair former Western Athletic Conference foes, Nevada (Dec. 18) and Boise State (Dec. 20).

The Rainbow Wahine are coming off an 88-54 win over Hawai'i Pacific on Dec. 11, and are 3-6 on the season. Six UH players scored in double-figures against the Sharks, led by a career-high 19 points from sophomore Leah Salanoa. Junior Sarah Toeaina leads Hawai'i with 12.1 points per game.

Hawai'i leads the all-time series against Nevada 24-15, and has won the last two in the series, both coming in 2011-12, the last year both schools were members of the WAC. Nevada is 5-5 on the season after beating Holy Names earlier this week. Riana Everidge and Stephanie Schmid lead Nevada with 13.4 and 13.2 points per game, respectively.

Boise State is coming off its only loss of the season, a 92-66 defeat at the hands of No. 11 Washington. The Broncos are 8-1 on the season, and are led by Brooke Pahukoa's 14.7 points per game. BSU has used the lineup of Pahukoa, Shalen Shaw, Marta Hermida, Ma Vanderschaaf and Yaiza Rodriguez to start all nine games this season.

UH is 12-10 all-time against BSU, winning the last meeting with the Broncos during the 2010-11 season before BSU joined the Mountain West Conference.

After the trip, the Rainbow Wahine will return to the Stan Sheriff Center to wrap up the non-conference schedule against Grand Canyon on Dec. 29. Big West Conference play begins Jan. 5 at Long Beach State.
