KA'ANAPALI, Maui – The University of Hawai'i men's golf team was unable to take advantage of favorable scoring conditions on the second day of the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational, Saturday, shooting a 12-over 296 to fall to 20
th in the 24-team event held at the Royal Ka'anapali Course.
Georgia had the day's best round with an 18-under 266 to take the team lead at 550 heading into Sunday's final round. LSU (560), Oklahoma (561), Clemson (562), Kansas (562) and South Carolina (562) round out the top six. Kansas' Chase Hanna has the low round of the day with a 61, which matched the course record.
UH's
Skye Inakoshi is tied for 26
th individually after he shot a two-under 69 to lead the Rainbow Warriors. The senior is even-par through 36 holes, nine strokes off the individual lead shared by Georgia's Geryson Sigg and Hanna.
Inakoshi was followed Saturday by
Cameron Kaneko (73),
Sam Schwartz (76),
Pono Tokioka (78) and
Trevor Hirata (79). Hawai'i's
Nick Nelson, playing as an individual, is also part of the tie for 26
th after his second straight even-par 71.
Also competing as individuals for UH are
Taiga Iwasa and
Smart Kittirattanapaiboon who each shot 1-over 72,
Bryden Salvador (75) and
Desmond Mello (78).
The tournament wraps up with 18 holes on Sunday.
