HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team begins a six-match homestand by hosting a two-match non-conference series with Grand Canyon, Thursday, Jan. 21 and Friday, Jan. 22 at the Stan Sheriff Center. Both matches begin at 7:00 p.m.

The Rainbow Warriors (4-1) are coming off a split with No. 11 Pepperdine last week in Malibu to open Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play. UH dropped the opening match in straight sets but rebounded for a four-set win on Saturday. Outside hitter Sinisa Zarkovic led the Warriors, averaging 5.43 kills per set while hitting .467 in the series. The senior posted a career-high 24 kills (.571) in UH's four-set win.

Meanwhile, the Lopes (5-0), competing in the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association, stretched their season-opening win streak to five after winning three home matches in two days over the weekend over Holy Names and UC Merced.

UH holds a 2-0 advantage in the series after taking both matches in 2012 in Honolulu. The Warriors needed five sets to win the opener, including 15-12 in the fifth, and won the rematch in four.
