HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i men's tennis team fell to the Brigham Young Cougars, 6-1 on Monday morning at the UH Tennis Complex.
In doubles, The Cougars got off to a quick start, with Andrey Goryachov and Jeremy Bourgeois defeating UHs
Felix Albert and
Kai Wehnelt on the No. 1 court, while the 'Bows' No. 2 duo of
Marcel Chan and
Nikolai Storch were blanked by BYU's Keaton Cullimore and Shane Monroe, 6-0 to capture the double point quickly.
Igor Kolaric won UH's lone match of the day, knocking off BYU's John Pearce in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2. The Cougars won the other five singles matches all in straight sets.
Up next, members of the Rainbow Warrior team will participate in the United States Tennis Association's (USTA) Maui Challenger tournament in Lahaina, Maui. The tourney will run from Jan. 24-30. The 'Bows will then head to California for their first roadtrip of 2016. UH will play at California on Jan. 30 at 9:30 am first. After a day off, the Rainbow Warriors will head to Stockton, Calif. to take on Pacific on Feb. 1 at 1:00 pm, then on Feb. 2 they will open their conference season with a single match at UC Davis at 2:00 pm.
