HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i women's water polo team concluded an exhibition game against the UH Alumnae squad, Saturday afternoon at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex, falling 11-10.
The Alumnae squad consisted a mixed roster, including former UH Rainbow Wahine, and friends of the program, while goalies of the current 2016 team rotated in the goal.
Newcomer Irene Gonzalez led the Rainbow Wahine with a hat trick, while Femke Aan and
Taylor Molde added two goals apiece.
After being tied up throughout the majority of the game, the Alumnae were able to pull ahead after scoring with just 37 seconds remaining.
The Alumnae roster included 2015 graduate
Caity Lopes da Silva,
Megan Ottoboni, Eko Lapp, and former interim head coach
Cindy Rote.
The Rainbow Wahine officially open the 2016 season next week, as they head to the UC Santa Barbara Tournament, Jan. 22-24.
