LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The sixth-ranked University of Hawai'i women's water polo team defeated Occidental College in a landslide 20-5, Sunday night Taylor Pool. UH concludes regular-season play with a 15-8, 3-2 Big West Conference record.
Following their thrilling overtime victory at Long Beach State just a few hours prior, the Rainbow Wahine enter the Big West Conference Tournament at the No. 3 seed.
Nearly all of UH's roster jumped into the lineup with 11 different Rainbow Wahine contributing at least one goal against the Tigers. Sophomore utility
Chloe Barr scored a match-high four goals to tie her career-best. Additionally,
Danika Kotylak and
Megan Ottoboni had one hat trick each for UH.
The Rainbow Wahine started off with a 5-3 advantage in the first quarter and exploded for seven goals in the second for a dominating 12-3 lead by halftime. From there, UH never looked back, scoring eight more to follow.
The Rainbow Wahine return to home to host the 2015 Big West Conference Championship, April 24-26 at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex.
