HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine water polo player Claire Nixon was named Big West Women's Water Polo Player of the Week, March 18-24. It is the Rainbow Wahine's first weekly conference award this season and the first of Nixon's career.

The sophomore from Staffordshire, England led the Rainbow Wahine to their first Big West victory of the season against No. 11 UC Davis last week in a double-overtime thriller, 10-9. UH was able to recover from a one-point deficit in the final period after Nixon hammered in back-to-back goals, both from five-meters out with just seconds left on the clock.

Coming off of a three-game win-streak on the road, UH advances one spot in the CWPA Poll to No. 7 this week. The Rainbow Wahine return to action, March 20-22 as they host No. 3 USC, Pomona-Pitzer, and the Brazilian National Team. All matches will be played at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex.
