The Lancers opened Set 1 with an 8-5 lead over the Rainbow Warriors, but following a CBU service-error, UH turned it around with six unanswered points to gain a commanding 11-8 lead and never looked back, finishing off the set 25-15.
UH took control the second set early, shutting out the Lancers after gaining a 7-1 run for a 12-6 lead. The 'Bows eventually built up a nine-point gap over CBU, and finally brushed them off with
Hendrik Mol dishing out three kills in a row to end it 25-15.
Midway through Set 3, the Warriors held a 15-11 lead over the Lancers. However, CBU went on its biggest surge of the night, 5-2 to come back for a surprising 17-16 lead. The Lancers held on by a thread, matching UH play-for-play, but in the end, the 'Bows pulled off four points in a row for the sweep. Averill bowed-out with back-to-back kills, ending it 25-23.
The Rainbow Warriors will conclude the series on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7:00 p.m. PT at the Van Dyne Gym.
