HONOLULU – The No. 10 University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team swept No. 3 Penn State, 26-24, 25-19, 25-18, Friday night at the Stan Sheriff Center to wrap up day two of the Outrigger Resorts Invitational.

UH (3-0, 0-0 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) will play for the Outrigger title Sunday night against No. 8 UC Irvine (2-1, 0-0 MPSF), who swept No. 14 Ohio State (3-2, 2-0 Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) in the day's earlier match.

The Rainbow Warriors were led by junior outside hitter
Sinisa Zarkovic, who hit for a match-high 15 kills. Senior opposite
Brook Sedore also added 11 kills and two service aces for the 'Bows, while libero
Kolby Kanetake led the defense with 12 digs. Â The Nittany Lions (0-2, 0-0 Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association) were led by PSU opposite Nick Goodell, who netted 14 kills. Â

The Warriors rallied back-and-forth with the Nittany Lions through the start of Set 1, before Sedore's first service ace of the night ignited a 7-2 run. PSU, however, quickly answered back eventually tying the score at 22-22. Neck-and-neck until the end, it was UH with the last word after Sedore pounded one past the Nittany Lions to finish the set.

With the score tied at 3-3 in Set 2, the 'Bows scored four straight, which included back-to-back double blocks by Sedore and
Davis Holt, who tallied a match-high six blocks. UH maintained its lead and reeled off five-straight to take a commanding 24-17 lead. After a pair of Nittany Lion points, Sedore ended it with his 10
th kill of the night.

UH scored eight straight points – aided by four PSU hitting errors – during a 12-2 run in Set 3 to take a dominant 15-5 lead. The Warriors went on to win the set 25-18 and defeat the Nittany Lions in the Outrigger for the second-straight year.

In the day's earlier match, UC Irvine defeated Ohio State, 26-24, 25-21, 25-22 with opposite Tamir Hershko leading the 'Eaters with 11 kills. The Buckeyes, however, put up a fight through each set, with opposite Nicholas Szerszen tying with Hershko for a match-high 11 kills as well.

The 'Bows and the Anteaters meet for the Outrigger Resorts Invitational on Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center. UCI and UH are both tied 2-0 in tournament play.
