Game Notes

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior baseball team resumes Big West Conference play this week, hosting Long Beach State for three games at Les Murakami Stadium. The 'Bows and Dirtbags will play Friday, May 9 (6:35 p.m.), Saturday, May 10 (6:35 p.m.), and Sunday, May 11 (1:05 p.m.).

The Rainbow Warriors are coming off a series sweep of the New York Institute of Technology. The 'Bows shut out the Bears in the first three games, the first time a UH team had three straight shutouts since 1991. Matt Cooper tossed five scoreless innings in the opener to extend his scoreless innings streak to 14. In Saturday's nightcap, Scott Kuzminsky struck out a career-high 14 batters en route to his complete-game shutout.

Three players lifted their batting averages north of .300 after the weekend. Adam Hurley is hitting .316 after an 8-14 weekend that included two three-hit performances to go along with three runs, three RBI and three doubles. Marc Flores (.300) belted his team-leading fifth homerun of the season in UH's 17-0 game one win and Kaeo Aliviado upped his average to .304 after a pair of three-hit performances over the weekend.
