Trevor Podratz's game-tying triple sparked a seventh-inning rally and the University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior baseball team topped UC Davis 2-1 in their  Big West Conference series opener on Friday afternoon at Dobbins Field.

Aggie pitcher Harry Stanwyck held the 'Bows in check through six and two-thirds innings before
Austin Wobrock (2-4, 1 R) prolonged the inning with a base hit. Podratz (1 H, 1 R, 1 RBI) then drove home Wobrock on his gapper to right field before scoring from third on
Stephen Ventimilia's slow rolling infield hit.

Ventimilia had a monster day for the 'Bows (20-28, 4-15 Big West), batting 3-4 with two stolen bases and the game-winning RBI in the seventh.

Matt Cooper (5-5) earned the win in another impressive performance on the mound. He allowed one run and posted seven strikeouts while scattering seven hits over seven and two-thirds innings. Steven Patterson's run-scoring base hit in the first inning was all the Aggies mustered off the right hander who kept his ERA at a paltry 1.64.

Scott Squier came on with two outs in the eighth inning and pitched the rest of the way to earn his first save of the season.

Stanwyck (3-7) tossed a complete game in the loss, giving up two runs on seven hits with three strikeouts. Patterson led the Aggies (21-28, 5-14 Big West) with three hits and one RBI.

UC Davis scored in the first inning, a lead that held until Podratz's big extra-base hit in the seventh inning. Seth Batty (2 H, 1 R) led off the game with a base hit before making his way to third with two outs. Patterson then drove a Cooper pitch through the right side of the infield to score Batty for the early lead.

The 'Bows and Aggies square off on Saturday for game two of the series. First pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. PT (10:00 a.m. HT).
