Game Notes

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior baseball team will look to get back in the mix  when it hosts No. 4 Cal Poly in a crucial Big West Conference series this week at Les Murakami Stadium. The 'Bows and Mustangs will play Friday, Apr. 11 (6:35 p.m.), Saturday, Apr. 12 (6:35 p.m.), and Sunday, Apr. 13 (1:05 p.m.).

After opening the league season with a series win at UC Santa Barbara, UH (14-16, 2-4 Big West) returned home only to fall victim to a series sweep by UC Irvine. The 'Bows will have all they can handle this weekend as they hope to return to their winning ways before heading out on an a challenging seven-game road trip next weekend.

Kaeo Aliviado had an excellent series against the Anteaters despite the three losses. He batted .462 (6-13) and delivered a career-high four hits in the finale on Sunday. He also tripled and scored a pair of runs.

Adam Hurley continued his hot hitting over the weekend, batting .444 which included a double and a homerun. His solid performance lifted his season average to .333 putting him second on the team in that category. Marc Flores struggled on the weekend but his grand slam, UH's first since 2010, gave the 'Bows life in Sunday's finale.

Cal Poly comes in with a 26-5 record and tied for the conference lead at 5-1. The Mustangs were ranked fourth this week by both Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball and No. 6 in Perfect Game USA's national poll.
