Women's Water Polo Romps Over La Verne, 19-4

LA VERNE, Calif. – The No. 9 University of Hawaii women's water polo team picked up its second straight road win with a 19-4 rout of La Verne Sunday afternoon at the La Verne Aquatics Center. The Rainbow Wahine improved to 15-9 overall with the non-conference victory.

UH was never threatened in the match, taking a 5-0 lead after the first quarter then exploding for eight more goals in the second quarter to hold an overwhelming 13-2 lead at halftime. Nine different Rainbow Wahine got in the scoring column for UH with six players scoring multiple goals.

Mady West, Paula Chillida Esforzado and Emily Carr led the way with three goals each. Freshman Sarah Logan got the nod in goal and registered  four saves.

The Rainbow Wahine now return home for its final two regular-season games of the season when it hosts UC Davis (April 12, 6:00 p.m.) and Cal State Monterey Bay (April 13, 12:00 p.m.) at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Center.
