The Rainbow Wahine will kick off the tournament with an opening round match versus UC Davis on Friday, April 25 at 3:15 p.m. PT (12:15 p.m. HT).
The Rainbow Wahine won the Big West Tournament last season in their debut season and look to defend its title as the No. 3 seed. UH finished the regular season with a 17-9 overall mark and 3-2 record in league play. UH now seeks the tournament title again and the coveted automatic NCAA Championship bid that goes with it.
First up for the Rainbow Wahine is UC Davis (12-17, 0-5 Big West), a team it defeated, 5-4, in its Big West regular-season finale on April 12. Friday's matchup versus UC Davis will be the team's first live action in nearly two weeks. The Rainbow Wahine haven't played since its regular-season finale on April 13, a 14-5 home win over Cal State Monterey Bay.
UH has a balanced attack, led by sophomore attacker
Paula Chillida Esforzado who is one of the Big West's top goal-scorers, averaging nearly two goals per match. Meanwhile, senior goalkeeper
Amy Carlson has been steady in the cage for the Bows while averaging 8.32 saves per match.
The winner of Friday's match at the LBSU Campus Pool will advance to the semifinals versus No. 2 seed Cal State Northridge on Saturday (3:15 p.m. PT/12:15 p.m. HT). Losers on Friday and Saturday will compete in the third- and fifth-place matches on Sunday.
