Box Score (html)NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior baseball team broke an eight-game skid with an impressive 9-1 series-finale win against Cal State Northridge on Saturday at Matador Field.
Kaeo Aliviado's double kickstarted a two-run first inning for the 'Bows (15-21, 3-9 Big West) and
LJ Brewster (1 H, 1 R) doubled and scored on a wild pitch to help put the game away in the seventh.
Stephen Ventimilia had two hits and three runs and
Marc Flores added a hit and three RBI.
Scott Squier (3-3) worked his second strong outing to earn the win. He tossed seven complete innings allowing one run on seven hits with six strikeouts. Matador starter John Salas (4-3) was tagged with the loss, allowing three earned runs on five hits in six innings.
Already leading 2-0, UH extended its lead with two runs in the fourth inning.
Jordan Richartz (1-2, 1 R, 1 RBI) and
Trevor Podratz both doubled with Richartz and
Adam Hurley (1 H, 1 R, 1 RBI) scoring in the inning. The 'Bows broke the game wide open with five runs over the seventh and eighth innings. After Brewster's run in the seventh,
Austin Wobrock (2 H, 1 R) scored on a bases loaded walk and Ventimilia raced home from third on an error by CSUN second baseman Ryan Raslowsky (1-4).
Flores's two-RBI base hit one inning later scored Aliviado (2-4, 2 R, 1 RBI) and Ventimilia to cap the scoring.
Nicolas Osuna had a hit and a run for Cal State Northridge (15-24, 4-8 Big West).
The 'Bows continue their road trip with a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, Apr. 22 at USC before resuming Big West play at Cal State Fullerton next weekend.
