Box ScoreRIVERSIDE, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior tennis team opened its road trip with a 6-1 win over UC Riverside on Monday at Andulka Park. The 'Bows quickly earned the doubles point then dominated in singles to remain in a first-place tie atop the Big West Conference standings.
The 'Bows (6-10, 3-0 BWC) grabbed the doubles point with wins on the one and two courts.
Nils Schuhmann and
David Schuster teamed up at the one to win 8-4, and
Jonathan Brooklyn and
Carter Lam won a tiebreaker at second doubles to clinch the point.
UH dominated in singles play with Schuhmann suffering the only loss, a three-set defeat to Cooper Bridge on the two court. Every other match resulted in a straight-set win by Hawai'i.
UCR fell to 2-20 overall and 0-4 in Big West play.
The 'Bows continue their three-match road trip when they face San Diego State on Wednesday, Apr. 16. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m. PT (11:00 a.m. HT).
