Water Polo Cruises Past Monterey Bay, 14-5

Box Score

HONOLULU – The No. 9 University of Hawai`I Rainbow Wahine water polo team concluded its regular season with a 14-5 win over Cal State Monterey Bay Sunday afternoon at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.

The Rainbow Wahine improved to 17-9 overall with their fourth straight win. The Otters dropped to 9-16 on the season.

UH was never threatened in the match, staking a 4-0 lead after the opening quarter and not allowing a single Otter score until the third quarter when the 'Bows already built a seven-goal cushion.

Six different players got in the scoring column for UH, including four with multiple goals. Emily Carr led the way with four goals, while senior Danielle Lewis recorded a hat trick in her final home appearance. Freshman Claire Nixon also notched three goals.

The Rainbow Wahine will now have two weeks to prepare for defense of their Big West crown as UH next travels to Long Beach, Calif., for the 2014 Big West Tournament, April 25-27.
