HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior tennis team broke an eight-match losing streak on Wednesday with a 6-1 win over San Francisco at the UH Tennis Complex.
The tandem of
Chris Meyer and
Chas Okamoto clinched the doubles point for the 'Bows (2-8) on the three court. UH lost at the one before
Nils Schuhmann and David Shuster evened the score with a win on the two court. Meyer and Okamoto then gave Hawai'i the point with their tiebreak win over the USF (8-8) pair of Thomas Takemoto and James Tallman.
UH won the first three singles finishes to win the match.
Danilo Casanova swept Christian Brockstedt, 7-5, 6-4, to give the 'Bows a two point lead, then
Pavel Liska beat Timothy Tan in three sets to all but put the match out of reach.
The next two finishes were won on third-set tiebreakers. Brooklyn fell to Saraiva at the one then Schuhmann won 12-10 in the deciding set tiebreaker on the two court.
The 'Bows will play their home finale next week when they face Cal Poly on Monday, Mar. 24 at the UH Tennis Complex.
