STOCKTON, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team was victorious in its final meeting with the University of the Pacific, winning in straight sets Tuesday at the Alex G. Spanos Center. Set scores were 25-22, 25-21, 25-15.

With UOP dropping its program following the season, the Rainbow Warriors (13-10, 11-9 MPSF) capped the series with a 44-1 advantage and won for the 35th consecutive time. In addition, coupled with Monday's series opening victory, UH has surpassed its overall win total (11) and MPSF win total (10) from a year ago.

The 11th-ranked Warriors won despite playing a good portion of the match without two starters, outside hitter Sinisa Zarkovic, who was given the night off, and opposite Brook Sedore, who suffered an ankle injury in the middle of Set 2. Johann Timmer, Sedore's replacement, had a career night, surpassing his previous best kill total with a match-high 15 on .522 hitting.  The senior from New Zealand also tallied a career-high four blocks.

Middle blocker Taylor Averill finished with 12 kills, hitting at a .647 clip. The junior from San Jose, Calif., committed only one error, which occurred late in Set 3, and also posted two aces and five blocks. Sedore had eight kills before getting tangled underneath the net with UH leading 15-11 in the second set.

That seemed to rejuvenate the Tigers, who dropped the first set 25-22, as they scored four straight to tie it at 15. Hendrik Mol replaced Sedore in the lineup and the Warriors composed themselves, reeling off five straight, spurred by a pair of Nick West aces for a 22-17 lead. Mol finished the match with five kills on .400 hitting and one block.

As a team, UH hit .405 and were quarterbacked by former Tiger Joby Ramos, who dished out 33 assists along with six digs, two blocks and one service ace against his former teammates. Warrior associate coach Jeff Hall is a former UOP player and assistant coach.

Tommy Carmody led the Tigers (2-19, 1-17) for the second straight night with nine kills, hitting .500. UOP's top three attackers hit .300 or better and as a team, the Tigers hit .329 for the match. Still UOP saw its losing streak extend to 10 straight.

The Warriors return to Honolulu and will next host BYU, April 4 & 5 at the Stan Sheriff Center.
