HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Warrior baseball team will look to extend its four-game win streak this week when it welcomes Pepperdine for four games at Les Murakami Stadium. The 'Bows and Waves will play Wednesday, Feb. 26 (6:35 p.m.), Thursday, Feb. 27 (6:35 p.m.), Friday, Feb. 28 (6:35 p.m.), and Saturday, Mar. 1 (6:05 p.m.).
After squandering a pair of potential wins against Oregon to open the season, the 'Bows' bats and defense arrived to lift Hawai'i to four wins over Albany this past weekend. In six starts,
Marcus Doi leads the team with a .417 batting average and
Adam Hurley, who made his first three appearances in pinch hitting roles, started the last two games and recorded five combined hits to go along with two runs and two RBI.
Kaeo Aliviado has been UH's most consistent hitter all season, batting .343 and failing to record a hit in just one contest.
Jarrett Arakawa (1-0) appears to have found his form on the mound after missing the entire 2013 season from a labrum tear. He leads the team with a 1.80 ERA and, this past week, threw six scoreless innings in a shutout win by the 'Bows. Four different pitchers collected saves last week with
Andrew Jones, who also had an injury sideline him for all of last season, earning his in one and two-thirds innings of work in the series finale.
