Women’s Water Polo Rolls Past Alumnae, 17-5

HONOLULU – In a tune-up for its 2014 campaign, the University of Hawai'i women's water polo team defeated the Alumnae squad, 17-5, Saturday afternoon at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex in a preseason exhibition match.
 
The Rainbow Wahine scored the first three goals of the match and never looked back. After taking a 4-2 lead after the first quarter, the Rainbow Wahine wore down the Alumane, outscoring them 13-3 the rest of the way.
 
 Seven different players got in the scoring column for UH, led by sophomore Paula Chillida Esforzado—the team's leading returning scorer—with five goals. Senior Danielle Lewis and freshman newcomer Chloe Barr  also recorded hat tricks with three goals each.
 
UH kicks off regular season play on the road at Santa Clara on Thursday, Jan. 30 at 5:00 p.m. PT.
