HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team dropped the first of two exhibition matches to Canada's Thompson Rivers, 3-1, Thursday night, at the Stan Sheriff Center. Set scores were 25-19, 25-21, 13-25, 25-20.

The teams play again on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

Thompson Rivers looked like a team in the middle of their season compared to the Rainbow Warriors, who officially open their season at next week's Outrigger Hotels and Resorts Invitational. The WolfPack hit .330 as a team while Hawai'i struggled to .252 hitting.

Brad Gunter led all players with a match-high 25 kills on .500 hitting for TRU while Canadian Brook Sedore had a team-high 14 kills for the Warriors.

After dropping the first two sets fairly handily, the Hawai'i got back in the match with a dominating performance in Set 3. UH hit .406 and committed only one hitting error while limiting the WolfPack to .062.

In Set 4, the team traded points until 12-all before the WolfPack reeled off four straight to take a commanding lead.

Along with Sedore, two other Warriors hit in double figures - middle blocker Nick West (13) and outside hitter Jace Olsen (11). Libero Kolby Kanetake had six digs.

Casey Knight had 10 kills for Thompson Rivers.
