Parnaby Named Easton All-America

LOS ANGELES, Calif.—University of Hawai'i softball pitcher Kaia Parnaby became just the 14th Rainbow Wahine to earn Easton All-America honors. Parnaby was selected to the second team after one of the most phenominal single-seasons in UH and Big West history. It is Parnaby's second All-America award this season after being named a third team National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American earlier. Forty athletes from 22 Division I institutions were selected as 2013 Easton All-Americans.

Parnaby, UH's Aussie senior southpaw and Big West Pitcher of the Year, broke several records during the season. She set a new conference and school single-season record and finished second in the NCAA DI with 39 wins with just seven losses. In the BWC, she tallied a solid 16-2 mark while earning Big West Pitcher of the Week honors five times this season. Along with her wins record, Parnaby also set a new UH and BWC record with 342 strike outs and broke the 'Bows record with 312.2 innings pitched. Parnaby also set a new single-game record and became the 'Bows first-ever ESPN.com/USA Softball National Player of the Week after she struck out 17 in an eight-inning relief effort in UH's 12-inning win over Syracuse (Mar. 16). Parnaby helped lead the 'Bows to their sixth overall conference title and second Big West crown.

Parnaby and Cal Poly's Jillian Anderson were the only two Big West players to earn Easton honors in 2013. Last season, former UH-pitcher Stephanie Ricketts and shortstop Jessica Iwata were named to the elite Easton team. Currently, Parnaby is gearing up with Australia's national team to battle in this summer's US World Cup of Softball VIII, July 11-14 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
