Senior Corey MacDonald will look to reach 100 innings this season when he takes the mound this week
Series Notes

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball team will close out the 2013 season this week with three Big West road games at UC Riverside. The 'Bows and Highlanders will play Thursday, May 23 (6:00 p.m. PT, 3:00 p.m. HT), Friday, May 24 (6:00 p.m. PT, 3:00 p.m. HT), and Saturday, May 25 (1:00 p.m. PT, 10:00 a.m. HT).

The Rainbows (15-33, 10-14 Big West) are coming off their first series sweep, beating UC Davis three times last weekend in their final home games of the season. Junior pitcher Matt Cooper sent his senior teammates off in style, tossing eight scoreless innings to guide the 'Bows to a 6-0 win in their home finale on Sunday.

UH starting pitching was stellar in the three games. Connor Little, Corey MacDonald, and Cooper all pitched at least into the eighth inning with Little working a nine-inning complete game, the first of his four-year career.

Kalei Hanawahine continues to tear it up in Big West Conference play. He is hitting a team-high .353 with 14 runs, four doubles, a triple, and six RBI against league competition and currently leads the team with a .290 overall batting average.

Austin Wobrock was lights out against UC Davis at both the plate and on the diamond. He batted .545 (6-11) with five RBI and boasted .636 slugging and .583 on base percentages. On Saturday, he twice gunned down Aggie base runners with spot on relay throws, one to second base and the next to third.

Senior Pi'ikea Kitamura, who played his final home games at Les Murakami Stadium last week, eclipsed the 100 career run and RBI marks earlier this season and on Sunday recorded his 200th career hit. The UC Riverside series will bring to a close a famed career by the versatile UH infielder.

On the mound, Cooper's solid performance on Sunday dipped his team-best ERA to 2.99 and was his third scoreless outing in 11 starts. He also boasts a team-high 67 strikeouts. Corey MacDonald has been a workhorse all season long for Hawai'i. He pitched seven and one-third innings on Saturday night for his team-high seventh win and is just six innings shy of 100 for the season.
