SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The No. 8 University of Hawai'i women's water polo team (17-9, 5-1 Big West Conference) grabbed two victories Sunday afternoon at the Bronco Tournament hosted by Santa Clara at the Sullivan Aquatics Center.
UH defeated CS East Bay 16-5, starting the morning off strong with a 10-1 lead going into halftime. In the second quarter CS East Bay was able to put in four goals in an attempt to play catch up but it was no match to the Rainbow Wahine's six goals in the second half.
Eleven of the Rainbow Wahine saw the net to add to the victory but senior
Paula Chillida Esforzado led the team with a hat trick.
Later in the afternoon UH defeated Colorado State in another landslide 18-7 victory. Senior
Amarens Genee scored a season-high seven goals while
Monika Eggens followed with six to lead the Rainbow Wahine.
UH led 9-4 to end the first half. They were able to outscore Colorado State 8-3 in the second half to finish them off 18-7 topping off an undefeated road trip.
UH returns home to host CS Northridge on April 13 at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex at 6:00 p.m. for a Big West match up.
