Rainbows Open Big West Road Play Against No. 27 UC Irvine

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball team will play its first Big West Conference road games when the 'Bows visit No. 27 UC Irvine for a three-game series this weekend. UH and UCI will play Friday, Apr. 5 at 6:30 p.m. (3:30 p.m. HT), Saturday, Apr. 6 at 1:00 p.m. (10:00 a.m. HT), and Sunday, Apr. 7 at 1:00 p.m. PT (10:00 a.m. HT).
 
The Rainbows enter the series 7-18 overall but after winning two of three conference games this past weekend are tied for fourth in the Big West at 2-1. Cal State Fullerton and Cal Poly are 3-0 along with UC Riverside who swept then 21st-ranked UC Irvine this past weekend.
 
Conner George and Marc Flores have both stepped up their games over the past two weeks. George was hitting .258 through the first 17 games but is now hitting a team-high .333. Over the last two series he hit .414 is riding a nine-game hitting streak. Flores has seen a similar improvement, batting .333 over his last eight games to up his overall average to .304. He currently leads the team with eight doubles.
 
Friday's series opener kicks off a seven-game, 10-day road trip for Hawai'i. Following the UCI series, UH will play a midweek contest against No. 10 UCLA and then close the trip against Big West foe and 21st-ranked Cal Poly.
