Series Notes
HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Rainbow baseball team will host Cal State Northridge this week in a three-game Big West Conference series at Les Murakami Stadium. The 'Bows and Matadors will play Friday, Apr. 19 (6:35 p.m.), Saturday, Apr. 20 (6:35 p.m.), and Sunday, Apr. 21 (1:05 p.m.).
The Rainbows (8-24, 3-6 BWC) are coming off a 10-day, seven-game road trip where they lost six of seven games but earned a one-run victory on Sunday in their series final at Cal Poly.
UH saw some impressive pitching performances over the road trip, which was arguably its toughest of the season. Scott Squier worked seven innings in a solid performance against No. 17 UCLA last Tuesday, allowing two earned runs on just two hits with seven strikeouts. He then collected his first career save five days later, coming in relief of Corey MacDonald against Cal Poly.
The 'Bows batted just .111 in their three-game sweep at UC Irvine to open the trip, but since then several players have found their swing. Austin Wobrock led the team in the final four games with a .417 batting average. Pi'ikea Kitamura had a career-high four hits to go along with two runs and two RBI in UH's series finale win at Cal Poly, and hit .375 during the four-game stretch.
Cal State Northridge leads the all-time series against UH 21-12.
